Project Description

This project involves the installation of a new single-ply Fibertite roofing system designed for low slopes, seamlessly integrated with the existing EPDM roofing system.

A note about asphalt shingles installed on a low-slope roof: Asphalt shingles are intended for steep slopes to effectively shed water. On a low slope like this back roof—measured at 2:12, and possibly even less in areas with substrate dips or bows—the shingles are prone to issues such as pooling and leakage. Instead of directing water downward, as intended, the shallow slope allows water to seep beneath the shingles, leading to potential damage. According to NRCA guidelines, asphalt shingle roof systems should be installed on substrates with slopes of 4:12 or greater to ensure optimal performance.
