My old roof was almost completely removed and replaced with new plywood, paper and shingles along with new flashing and better ventilation system. Both the salesman (Chris) and the project manager (Don) were great to work with. The crew was very professional and on time and efficient.

A brand new architectural shingle roof was built on our 1997 house. We had our roof completely redone after finding out many short cuts were taking by the original builders. The house was built in 1997 and had several spots that had leaks. We had our insurance inspector come out and show us the embarrassing work that somebody had originally done and the reasoning the roof was in such bad shape. The Roofing company took 1.5 days to complete the project. The roof looks great and has quality written all over. The workers were very courteous. At the end of the work day our yard and deck were cleaned up and looked as if nobody had been doing construction. The Roofing Company comes highly recommended after our experience with them.

Replace plywood that was cut way too low for ridge vent on house. It was a wonder the ceiling had not leaked sooner. The home inspector and agent never even caught this on the inspection. Dave came out right away and quickly identified the problem. He coordinated the crew to come out and repair the roof. Jesse was the lead guide on the project. He was very professional and prompt. The project was done logically in steps. Company provided all details and answered all questions concerning what was to be done, why, and at no time pressured for a specific option. Rather, the options were explained thoroughly. From intial explanations to follow-ups to the actual crews working on the house, we were very satisfied. They provided details, which we were definitely in the need to know with such a large expenditure and again, they respected this. Their concern was two fold- that we understood what was going to happen and why. This is quite different from a company that is primarily interested in profit. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone having this work done. One last thing, our neighbor is a retireee from "GAF" (company that makes roof shingles). he told me that he watched the roofing crew from beginning to end and was very impressed by their work. We were too, but having his comments is certainly a testimony as well.

We moved into our home in July of 2006. A tropical storm rolled in at the beginning of September and revealed to us that the 15 year old roof on the house that we had just purchased was shot. Water was blown under the shingles in a number of spots on the roof. We asked folks at work if they could recommend a good roofing company and the company folks kept mentioning was "The Roofing Company Inc." We had to wait a couple of weeks to get an estimate because the wind from the storm had damaged a lot of homes in Hampton Roads. About two weeks after our estimate, the actual work began. To the best of my recollection, the work only took about a day and a half. The half day was due to the fact that we had rotted roof decking. The Roofing Company representatives that we dealt with were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Their rep was able to answer all of our questions about roof replacement, types of shingles, differences in price quotes that we had received from other roofing companies, and warranties. After the work was done we regretted that we had chosen the 3-Tab shingles instead of the Architectural shingles that the rep had recommended. The Architectual shingles look a lot better and are more durable. I recommend that you spend the extra money and consider it an investment. We have contacted them since this work was done to get estimates on other home repair and refurbishment projects. The Roofing Company exceeded our expectations.

He was the company representative who came and measured the house and told me all the options available. He gave me two printed detailed proposals (the basic and the best). He gave me a folder with brochures and details on options, colors, & warranties. When I called him to hire the company he also readily answered my questions. The next step was a visit from the site supervisor, Dink Cohen, who explained all the details of putting on the roof, what kind of mess to expect, protecting the plants, etc. He also reviewed the contract in detail before I signed it. There was a week and a half delay because of rain. The materials were delivered at 7:30 Monday and the crew started at 8:00. The job was done by 6:00pm Tuesday. Dink was sick so there was a new site supervisor, Shawn Gimpel. There were six roofers and two carpenters. They worked hard and fast. Everyone was friendly and professional. I was consulted and shown any problems with the carpentry before it was done. The majority of the work was done on Monday and the finishing up done on Tuesday. The site was cleaned up before they left. The racket will get on your nerves. Get earplugs. The bill was actually a bit below the estimate. I was immensely pleased with the whole process from beginning to end.

Just wanted to touch base with you guys to say how refreshing it was to find a company this is responsive, reasonably priced and with a conscientious staff. After trying for some time to find a company that would come out when they said they would I found your listing during an internet search. I filled in my information on the website on last Sunday evening and I received a call the next day indicating that a salesman would be at my house at 11 am on Wednesday to provide an estimate if I would be available. It was great not to have a window, like most companies do, that says we will be there between 12-4 or so. The appointment was set at 11 am and the salesman, David, was there ahead of time, which was great for my schedule. He took his time and analyzed what the damage was. He then explained to me what had to be done, the estimated cost, and prepared a formal agreement. This was also a plus. That is to have a mobile office with a formalized contract with licenses and presented in a nice package. This approach, to me, indicates that the firm is credible and says that management cares about its image and the work they do. After we executed the contract, David indicated that it could take as long as two weeks to get to us, which was acceptable to me, but he indicated that in some cases might be opening earlier. He indicated that a foreman would call and let me know when they would be there. I met with Dave on Wednesday and Nick, the job foreman, called on Thursday and indicated that he would be there on Friday. The job was completed today, Friday. I was not able to be there but indicated to Nick if it would be alright if I called the office and gave them my credit card information for the final payment and he indicated it was okay. I called the office and spoke to Debbie and gave her my information and asked if she would fax me a receipt. The whole process was a pleasure. So I would just like to say that your business model is a great one and if I have any work in the future I would not hesitate to call or to offer you firm when asked for a referral. Thanks again.

Your company just finished replacing the roof on the one hundred-six year old house my wife and I are restoring. Our house has internal gutters. Not many roofing contractors knew what they were when we called for an estimate. The few who did, flinched at the idea of repairing them or offering alternatives for restoring them. From the moment we made contact with your salesman/estimator at Homemaker last year, to the on site trades - everyone knew exactly what we had and was knowledgeable on the subject. I spent twenty years building bridges and have some trade knowledge while my wife has none. The Roofing Company's employees were able to communicate the process in a way that left each of us confident in the service and product we were to receive. There was never a point in the project we felt confused or uncomfortable. The stereotypes of roofing contractors are not flattering but the trades The Roofing Company sent were first-class, to a man, and do not fit the industry stereotype. The on site supervisor, Shawn, kept us informed of the project's current status and went further to give us an accurate 'look ahead' for where the work would be at the end of the next day. The level of professionalism displayed by the two gangs, shinglers and carpenters, was reassuring. One never would have known ours was a complex job by the way they acted. The full crew arrived everyday with clear heads, ready to work - no bickering, foul language or confusion. At one point or another, I spoke to them individually about some particular task they were performing and received an articulate and courteous response. The value DeLisa and I received is more than either of us ever expected. Our house needs a great deal of restoration but none of it can happen without a sound roof system. We were very nervous in our search for a competent contractor and were even skeptical of your company. However, at each point along the way your company relieved our anxiety with information, quality materials and uncommon craftsmanship. In the even you encounter another client with the 'sticker shock' we had do not hesitate to give them our telephone number. The Roofing Company has raised my wife's expectations of the caliber work performed on our turn of the century house and now I have to pick it up a notch to match the work your company performs.

When we decided to have renovations done on our newly purchased home; we naturally contacted and received estimates from four different contractors. I was asked to provide my honest assessment of the quality of workmanship and professionalism of The Roofing Company from my experience as the President of Yorkshire Downs Condominium Association. I have been on the association board since 1996 and have been the board President since 1999. I have been the principle person on the board who has handled the replacement roofing projects for our two-story, eight-plex buildings. To date our association has spent just over $120,000 in replacing flat roof sections and some shingle sections. They have educated me on roofing specifications and backed their work 100%.

Our property consists of 15 buildings with a combination of multiple sections of flat roofing and extensive shingle roofing for the eight condo unit buildings. We began our business with The Roofing Company after a very negative experience with (company not being named) on our flat roofs. I have found Brian Chalsma of The Roofing Company to be honest from the bidding process through the construction phase and into the follow-up phase. The owners have proven to be very ethical businessmen and their workers have proven their workmanship quality repeatedly on our properties. I intentionally used a roofing consultant to quality check all work on our roofs and his corrections list for each building was minimal. The conduct of their workers while on property was exceptional and their cleanup after each job exceeded my expectations. They also perform all our roof leak repairs and have even installed chimney caps on several units. They are the only roofing company I will do business with. With more than 2.5 years working experience with the company and more than $130,000 of association funds invested in roofs through The Roofing Company, I highly recommend them.

Let me preface this letter by explaining to you that I am a very detail oriented person, a nitpicker and a half. In my profession this is a valuable quality and has made a different in many peoples' lives. While I know that 99% of the rest of life does not demand this same level of intensity, I often find myself focusing on other things in life the same way I would at work. I usually notice all the things that aren't done right by people who claim to be "professionals." I sigh and accept it but still fell a bit disappointed that the people who did the job weren't striving to achieve excellence, or perhaps that the person who hired them didn't care about quality workmanship.

Having been working over the years to restore my home which was build in 1923 (and is in much better shape than most of the new construction in the are that has gone up in the past 20 years) I have had a struggle trying to find people who know who to do the quality of work I want and have the pride in their craft that allows them to product that high quality work.

It took six months to find The Roofing Company, one of two siding contractors who stated they could do the job I wanted. Things went very well from the first meeting. Jim was willing to listen to what I wanted and did not try to sell me to some standard package deal. I had some unusual requirements for the job and Jim worked with me to understand the how I wanted things done and how these requirements could be realistically met.

What sold me on The Roofing Company was: I looked at their reference list and contacted two homeowners in my area with older houses and both of them were very pleased with the quality of the work and the people who did it.

As one might expect with an old house we did encounter some problems. The project manager had realistic options available to address these problems and the pros and cons of each. When he needed to bring in sub contractors to do these additional repairs they were always knowledgeable professionals who did top quality work.

The Roofing Company personnel always went the extra mile with me to make sure the job was done right, and that I had all my questions answered and was satisfied with the job and the details.

The new roof looks great. David Lee and his crew were a pleasure to work with. He did a good job keeping us updated as they worked around the weather. I especially appreciated that they brought rotten wood and insect infestation to my attention. The piece of wood with three carpenter bees in it made a nice science presentation for my 4th grade son.

I have been involved with the roofing industry for the past twenty years. Part of that time was as a project manager, estimator and finally, as a general manager for a major commercial roofing contractor. For the past twelve years I have worked as a consultant in the roofing industry. My responsibilities include roof evaluations, design, quality control inspections and construction management. My client base includes local and state agencies, US Navy, US Coast Guard, property management firms and private sector owners.

Both Meta and I wanted to write to thank you for the extraordinary fine job you did in re-roofing our home in Queen's Lake. Although we expected it to be one of the messiest parts of our current remodeling, it turned out to be just the opposite. Your crew of young men were hard-working, competent, courteous and clean. The job went flawlessly and at the end of each day the area where they worked was cleaned up spotlessly. One morning when my wife's car had become mired in the mud just off the driveway, your crew came down off of the roof and helped her car back onto the driveway. You can well be proud of your roofing crew not only for their competence, but for their kindness and courtesy. We have generally high expectations, so a "10" rating is difficult to achieve with us but in this case well deserved. The entire experience was great: salesman was very thorough and knowledgeable; office was very efficient, and project manager was prompt, responsive and knowledgeable. All workers courteous and very hardworking. Not only was the roof job very well done, the cleanup was impeccable. Very impressed with your TQM processes. Will highly recommend!
